faculty FOCUS

One of the strengths of the BBA Program is its faculty. Diverse backgrounds and extensive experience in the workplace make them true educators.

One professor who brings real world experience to the classroom is Professor David O'Gorman.

One of his recent online students, Valerie Huels, said it was the best experience of her college career: "I couldnĂt wait to get on the computer to do the work and see what was on the web board. I hated online courses but he made the class so exciting because his personality came through."

Professor O'Gorman is a former marketing research professional from Bristol-Myers, and later served in the Marketing Development Division of Marathon Oil Company. While at Marathon he was the director of a large project (3 years, 7 programmer/analysts) which developed the decision support system for the Marketing Division.

At UIS he has delivered advanced electives including BUS 435: Sales and Sales Management, BUS 381: ECCE Business and Developing Countries, MGT 461: Organizational Theory, and MGT 490: Executive Decision Making.

Professor O'Gorman has also been a leader in the delivery of online courses at UIS. His research interests are decision-making processes, competitive information systems, and complexity science (chaos theory).
