John is in his second year as the student representative to the University of Illinois Board of Trustees and is currently the only student representative with voting power. He is the co-founder of the UIS Squash Team sport club, a group that has traveled at the national level to compete. He has been a UIS Journal columnist and was the Co-Chair of the Student Union Committee that led to a successful student referendum to build a student union.
