Dr. Mooney encourages his students to get out into the world. His classes often take field trips to the Illinois State Capitol, state agencies, and the Illinois Supreme Court. Mooney is a nationally recognized leader in the field of state politics. He is the founding editor of the national academic journal “State Politics and Policy Quarterly”. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
