Program-Level Assessment of Learning Outcomes:
Steps in Closing the Feedback Loop

Step 1

Identify one learning outcome that applies to all students in the program.

Step 2

Determine how the program will gather information about the students' performance on the learning objective.

Collecting dataStep 3

Collect information or data about the students' performance on the learning objective.

Step 4

Examine the information or evidence that has been collected. Look across students.

Hmmm, now what exactly do they mean by examine? Get more information!

Step 5

Discuss with colleaguesReflect and discuss the implications of the evidence for the program's curriculum.

Step 6

Do Something! Implement changes to address areas in which students are not achieving learning outcomes

ReportStep 7

Summarize the findings and action taken in the annual assessment report.
