Points of Pride

The UIS Applied Study Term Program is proud of the following:

Marcus Taylor and Jan
Jan Kirkham, EXS-L Interim Director, and UIS graduate Marcus Taylor

Friday, February 12, business major Marcus Taylor was awarded the first Wayne & Margie Fox Award for Excellence in an Unpaid Applied Study Term . SSU alumnus, Wayne Fox and his wife Margie presented the UIS Office of Development a $1000 gift to be given to a student who had “given back to the community” through a business-related, unpaid internship. Taylor, a native of Springfield and December 2009 CBM graduate, provided exceptional leadership in raising financial support for Contact Ministries. This agency, hard hit by the economic down turn, serves a vital mission for our most needy Springfield citizens by “providing referrals, food, clothing, shelter, financial assistance, and other programs, through God's love and compassion,” as noted on their website.  Taylor completed the unpaid marketing internship August through December 2009 and successfully completed the Applied Study Term course.
