Career Highlights

Memories of UIS
“Being chosen to serve as class marshal at graduation was a great honor! I also enjoyed serving as treasurer of the Public Administration Student Association, attending classes, discussing the issues with my professors and fellow classmates, and the lasting professional relationships I developed throughout my time at UIS. I have also made many wonderful new friends.”

How did UIS change or prepare you?
“As a ‘non-traditional’ student who was going back to get my master’s degree after many years away from the classroom, I didn’t know what to expect. However, all of my professors and fellow students made me feel welcome and really valued the unique perspective I brought to the classroom as a working professional with many years of experience. The education I received at UIS took those years of professional experience and coupled it with industry research and real world exercises to expand my perspectives in directions I had never imagined. Earning my MPA has allowed me to advance in my career far beyond my expectations.”

Interesting Fact
“I am a musician. My two daughters and I sing in a group called ‘The Millers’. So if you are at a local festival or charity event, you may just hear us providing entertainment!”
