Memories of SSU/UIS
I played number 1 on the UIS Women’s Varsity Tennis team for both singles and doubles. Match/tournament weekends are something I will never forget. I received the Lincoln Medallion for my work with the Illinois Innocence Project. This is the highest award in the state and I received it at a time when I was working with a team to free a wrongfully accused man from prison. I was the commencement speaker at graduation. The culmination of all four years in those 5 minutes, while standing before professors, family, friends and peers; I will never forget the positivism and spirit that the entire UIS family showed me that day.”

How did UIS change or prepare you?
“Besides a solid educational base, UIS taught me time management, meeting deadlines and organization. I was pushed past my limit on a daily basis, but I always had great support from both professors and friends the entire time which made the experience one that I would repeat in a heartbeat.”
