Beginning in May 2007, AAS sponsored UIS’ Global Seminar Experience in Jamaica. Dr. Kemayo took students to Treasure Beach, JA for a three-week service learning experience. Of course, service and learning are not all it’s about: YEAH MON!


Reverend Carey Grady performs a libation with water at the start of the HipHop Symposium.In November 2005, AAS hosted “In the Mix: Cross-Dialogues Regarding HipHop Culture,” a two-day Symposium designed to facilitate discussion about what has been called “one of the most important phenomena in popular culture since television.” Activities included panel presentations, breakout discussions, performances, films and critiques, a fashion show, and an awards banquet.
