Instructions for Diversity Task Force Funding
Diversity Task Force Charge:
The Diversity Task Force shall encourage, enhance, and facilitate communication,
education and relations among persons of various races, physical conditions, religions,
national origins, citizenship, genders, ages, socioeconomic
backgrounds, and sexual
orientation at the University of Illinois at Springfield.
In addition, the Diversity Task Force shall foster the development and maintenance
of Multicultural Diversity on the UIS campus in its systems, resource allocations,
educational activities, and operations.
Awards are made in the fall and spring semesters of each academic year by the Diversity Task Force Funding
Committee. Applications for Funding can be obtained at: http://www.uis.edu/aeo/
Fall requests must be returned on or before November 1. Spring semester requests must be returned on or before
March 1.
Criteria for Awards
1. Applicant must be a student, faculty or staff of UIS or a “recognized organization” or campus
administrative unit.
2. The event/activity to be funded must advance the charge of the Task Force.
3. Individual (person or group) requests are eligible for an award up to $400.
4. In an effort to promote cooperation and appreciation between diverse organizations, funding requests
solicited by two or more differing organizations (applicants) may be given preference over applications
received from one primary sponsor, and are eligible for an award up to $500 (total).
5. Applicants may be required to appear before the funding committee to receive an award.
6. No award will be made for the purchase of equipment.
7. No award will be made for “entertainment” costs, including refreshments.
8. No award will be made for an individual’s personal/professional development, including travel.
9. If a funded event/activity is repeated in the same academic year, it will be ineligible for a second award.
