Graduate Program Application Requirements

Public Affairs Reporting, MA

In addition to completing the UIS application for graduate study, applicants to the Public Affairs Reporting program should apply directly to the program. The deadline for applications is April 1 for the following fall semester. The program requires applicants to submit an official application form-- available below, or from the program at the address below, by phone or by e-mail-- three reference letters, writing samples (newspaper clippings or broadcast scripts preferred), and a goals essay.

Based on evaluation of these materials, finalists for acceptance into the Public Affairs Reporting program are invited to Springfield for an interview with the PAR Admissions Committee. At that time, candidates also will be tested on language skills and current events and will complete a news writing exercise.

All materials should be sent to:

University of Illinois at Springfield
One University Plaza - PAC 326
