Graduate Program Application Requirements

Biology, MS

The Master of Science degree in Biology offers a balanced curriculum through courses in two tracks: (a) molecular and cell biology, and (b) ecology, evolution, and environmental science. Masters' research improves problem-solving and organizational skills, and advanced training in biology prepares students for successful careers in biology, natural resources & environment, and health & medicine.

In addition to completing the UIS application for graduate study, applicants are expected to submit a goals essay and to take the GRE General and Biology subject tests.

To be eligible for full admission to the master of science program in biology, applicants are expected to have earned a baccalaureate degree with courses similar to those required of a UIS bachelor’s in biology and to have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
