Campus Welcome Committee

All new Civil Service and Academic Professional staff hired after June 1, 2007, are required to attend a meeting of the Campus Welcome Committee. New employees will receive notification about the dates of the meetings, which last approximately one hour. The university grants release time to employees to attend a Campus Welcome Committee meeting.

The purpose of the Campus Welcome Committee is to acquaint new Civil Service and Academic Professional employees with practical information about UIS and UIS staff, and to provide a "social orientation" to new staff so they better understand the UIS culture. New employees learn more about the UIS community and how they can be active participants.

The creation of this committee was specifically recommended in Goal #4 of the UIS Strategic Plan, adopted in 2006.
