Capital Scholars Program (CAP)

The Capital Scholars Program is a four-year baccalaureate program combining an integrated core of 40 semester hours of general education courses with study of a foreign language and any of UIS’s 20 undergraduate majors. The program features interdisciplinary and collaborative learning, and is designed to develop the talents of students through small classes, close contact between students and faculty, and an emphasis on leadership.

The program is:

  • open to well qualified high school graduates with 12 hours or less of previous college credit;
  • a residential program for the first two years, with all students living in the Lincoln Residence Hall; and
  • staffed by full-time UIS faculty who also teach in academic departments in each of the four colleges.

The CAP office is located in the Lincoln Residence Hall.
