Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research

The University of Illinois is a member of the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR). The services of ICPSR are pertinent across all studies of human behavior including economics, sociology, psychology, political science, and history as well as the more specialized fields of education, public health, social work, criminal justice, and public administration.

Resources and Services

  • Serves as an archive for social science data with computer-readable records available via File Transfer Protocol (FTP) or CD-ROM service
  • Disseminates data and documentation for instruction and research
  • Conducts related instructional programs
  • Provides a summer training program in quantitative methods that includes studies in research design, statistics, data analysis, and social methodology

ICPSR Direct

ICPSR Direct is a new service providing direct access to the ICPSR data holdings for all students, faculty, and staff at ICPSR member institutions. Any user with an authorized IP address from UIS may download data from ICPSR, without going through the UIA campus representative.
