- Illinois Legislative Staff Intern Program
Five legislative analyst positions with each of the four partisan leadership staffs, three research positions and one science writing position with the Legislative Research Unit. - Graduate Public Service Intern (GPSI) Program
As part of a two-year master’s degree program, fifty interns serve half-time during the regular academic year and full-time during the summer, with an agency of Illinois state government. - Public Affairs Reporting Program
Eighteen reporting positions with print and electronic media organizations maintaining full-time operations in the Statehouse. - Applied Study and Experiential Learning Term (AST)
AST provides an academically sponsored learning experience that gives all undergraduate students an opportunity to learn from the community. - Graduate Assistantships
These on-campus internships (approximately 100) offer opportunities to develop and apply skills across a broad spectrum of UIS. - Whitney M. Young Graduate Fellowship Program
A competitive program for African American, Hispanic American, and American Indian Graduate Students. Usually 10 to 12 fellowships. - Career Development Center (CDC)
The CDC provides the opportunity to partner with career counselors and develop a comprehensive internship plan throughout a UIS student’s academic experience.  Supplemental services include guidance to create an internship, resume and cover letter critiques, and connections to employers offering internships at the local and national level representing diverse industries.
