The history and reputation of the University of Illinois at Springfield are inextricably tied to its quality graduate programs.
From its beginning in the early 1970s, this campus offered students the opportunity for graduate study leading to professional advancement. UIS is home to 19 master's degrees, one doctoral program, and five graduate certificate programs. Our graduate degrees span the fields of business, education, human services, liberal arts, and public affairs. Within this broad range of graduate programs, I am confident that you will find one that suits your professional and educational needs.
Unlike many public universities, at UIS graduate students comprise a substantial portion of the student body. In fact, nearly 45% of our students are enrolled in our graduate degree programs.
Students are attracted to UIS' graduate programs for several reasons, including our small class size, a talented and committed faculty, a close student-professor relationship, the reasonable cost of graduate education at UIS.
Our location in the state capital offers unique opportunities to apply what you are learning in your graduate courses – and to get paid at the same time – through our Graduate Public Service Internships.
UIS also offers over 75 graduate assistantships in which students work in academic programs, research centers, and support units, while pursuing their degrees.
The best reason to come to UIS, however, is that a graduate degree from UIS will give you an education that you can put to work in your career.
