Celebrating diversity at the University of Illinois Springfield
UIS held a flag raising ceremony to add 22 new flags to the university’s display in the Sangamon Auditorium lobby, bringing the total number of flags to 88. Each flag represents the home country of current or past students. There are more than 1,000 international students studying at UIS.

Annual International Festival
UIS hosts its annual International Festival with an evening of performances by students, staff, and Springfield community members. In addition to performances, festival attendees could sample cuisine from a variety of countries, and peruse a number of cultural exhibits.

39th International Festival at UIS – “World as One: Uniting Peoples and Cultures”

Admission: Free!

The International Festival is the longest running student-led program in the history of UIS. The festival features cultural performances, fun and games from around the globe, exhibits, and a variety of ethnic foods.
