Our students say, “My professors know me.”
We have some of the most prized attributes of private colleges: small class sizes; high-quality programs; courses taught by faculty with terminal degrees; personalized interaction between faculty and students; and hands-on, experiential learning.
UIS was founded as Sangamon State University in 1969.
In 1995, the University of Illinois acquired SSU as its third campus; the initials became UIS.
