The University of Illinois at Springfield offers several music performance courses such as the chorus, band, string ensemble, world music percussion ensemble, and Native American flute circle.

Although UIS does not offer a music degree, music studies are integral to a liberal arts curriculum. These courses offer students the opportunity to develop skills in reading and performing music and to expand their sense of responsibility as essential members of a performing group. Students develop a stronger sense of self and connection to UIS as a whole.
