Savion Glover Tap Workshop

Sangamon Auditorium is very excited to announce that a one-hour tap workshop with Savion Glover will be offered in conjunction with the performance of SoLe Sanctuary and in collaboration with local dance studios.
Savion Glover is a Tony-winning, hoofer, choreographer and producer. His numerous credits include the Broadway shows The Tap Dance Kid; Black and Blue; Jelly’s Last Jam; and Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk, and the films Tap with Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis Jr.; Bamboozled by Spike Lee; and Happy Feet, an Academy Award winner choreographed by Glover.
SoLe Sactuary is a unique dance performance in which Savion Glover celebrates the art and legends of tap, paying tribute to some of the great dancers while also securing the future of the art form.
Tap workshop participant schedule for Sunday, October 14:
2 p.m. tap workshop: Observe Mr. Glover's tap workshop at Springfield’s Southeast High School auditorium; cost = $10*
7 p.m. performance of SoLe Sanctuary at Sangamon Auditorium, UIS; cost = starts at $36 for adults and $24 for youth (H.S. and younger).
20 dancers will participate (dance) in the class. Participating dancers have already been selected based on recommendations from local dance instructors.
Up to 100 dancers will be able to observe the class. All observers are encouraged to bring tap shoes with them in the event the opportunity presents itself for more than the 20 pre-selected dancers to tap.
