My name is Bret Tate and I am running for the position of Senator for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Over this past year, I have had the chance to become involved at UIS in many different ways. I am currently vice-chair of the Queer-Straight Alliance, I serve on ICCB, and next year I will be an RA in Founders Residence Hall. These experiences have helped me to see what is good about UIS but also what needs changed.
There are several issues that I see at UIS that need to be addressed. These issues include lack of a campus life, lack of an adequate bus service and constantly rising text book prices. I would push to have these issues brought to the table so that solutions can be found rather than these issues just being complained about year after year.
I am always open to new ideas and listening to people. I believe that there is a need for greater dialogue to occur between the student body and SGA. If there is ever an issue that comes up, I would be more than willingly to help find an answer to the problem.
I would be honored to receive your support when you vote. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to e-mail me at btate2@uis.edu.
Thank you,
Bret Tate
