As UIS continues to grow, we must ensure that our achievements and expansion as a university are combined with attention to student needs and adequate support services and resources for a diverse student population. As the candidate with the experience and commitment to achieve these goals, I ask the student body to allow me to represent you as your next SGA President.
As an involved student leader with previous SGA experience, I am confident that I have the institutional knowledge and experience necessary to be an effective leader and advocate for your needs. In my four years at UIS and service as an SGA member, I have been an accessible resource for my constituents and have a history of successfully working with staff and administrators to address student concerns. I also have considerable political experience that enables me to be a voice for UIS students at the state and federal levels.
If elected as your President, I plan to improve constituent outreach by increasing communication with students and creating more open forums on student issues. I also hope to increase campus leadership by implementing a leadership program for incoming freshmen and encouraging their involvement in campus affairs. I promise to keep student fees to a reasonable minimum and ensure that increases are in the best interests of students. I will also work to procure adequate resources and representation for all students, including underrepresented and minority groups, and increase unity among all student factions. In addition to these goals, I am dedicated to improving retention rates through improving support services and keeping our residents safe through providing comprehensive resources and education. In order to work on your behalf and begin a year of progress, change and advocacy, I ask for your support and the honor of serving as your SGA President.
