Kevin A. Catlin
Candidate for student representative to the Board of Trustees

The major motivation that drives me to apply for this position is my drive to become a U.S. Marshal. In order to become an effective U.S. Marshal, one has to possess excellent leadership skills. More importantly, one has to possess excellent people skills, both of which I currently possess. Chiefly, I want to gain some leadership experience from obtaining the Student Rep. to the Board of Trustees position. I will bring my confidence, my hard work, friendly personality, and respectfulness to the position and to the entire UIS campus. I am a very respectful person that completes any task that is handed to me. More importantly, a good leader is essential to the survival of any business, organization, school, and so on. This is why I will bring my best leadership skills as well. I was also a Class Officer all four years of high school. They were all leadership positions. My current goal is to obtain the Student Rep. to the Board of Trustees position as it will allow me to advance and represent many student concerns whether they are from the UIS campus or the Peoria campus. I believe some major roles of student representative are to demonstrate a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. As a Resident Assistant in Founders Hall, I strive to improve these roles on a day to day basis. Our current SGA lacks the ability to represent as many of its constituents as possible; however, I possess the ability, mindset, and willingness to represent any student concern, not matter what it is.
