Welcome to the UIS Capital Scholars Honors website!
Whether you are an interested student, a parent, or someone simply curious about our program, we hope that you will find the information you need here. (And if you don’t, please let me know; I’ll make sure you get what you need.)
The Capital Scholars Honors Program
The Capital Scholars Honors Program is a selective undergraduate program combining the high standards and emphasis on excellence of the University of Illinois with a small, residential college model, enrolling only about 100 first-year students each year.
Interdisciplinary core curriculum
CAP students participate in an interdisciplinary core curriculum designed to prepare you for your major as well as to introduce you to those intellectual skills that society expects from future leaders. In addition to selecting from a range of strong academic majors, you will be able to investigate career and leadership opportunities through seminars and applied study internships.
As you explore this site and learn more about the program, I think you will begin to share the excitement we all feel about the extraordinary educational opportunities – both inside and outside the classroom – that the CAP program provides.
The CAP faculty
The CAP faculty, some of the best teachers and most productive scholars on campus, the student services staff, and I have done our best to make the CAP experience a truly exceptional baccalaureate program.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact us and I, or one of the faculty or staff, will be happy to respond.
