Educational Programs

Class Acts – Class Acts is a series of daytime performances designed to introduce students to the performing arts.  Teachers are provided with study materials to enhance the learning experience and support learning standards mandated by the State of Illinois.  The 2011-2012 Class Acts season is sponsored by PNC.

ClassPass – Through the ClassPass discount ticket program, groups of students in grades K-12 can attend performances of Sangamon Auditorium’s evening and weekend event at a significantly reduced cost.

Partners in Education – In an effort to provide professional development for area teachers, Sangamon Auditorium and Springfield Public Schools have become a partnership team in the Partners in Education program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Arts Start – The Arts Start program is a new initiative designed to introduce the arts to preschool students in the Head Start program.  Arts Start is supported through a grant from the PNC Grow Up Great program.

UIS Students – Students at UIS receive a discount of up to 50% off the regular ticket price for most events at Sangamon Auditorium. This discount is funded by the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. UIS Students also benefit from special collaborative projects, such as the Listen to the River event in spring 2012.

Community Education – Sangamon Auditorium offers a number of educational activities throughout the season in connection with performances.  Activities include pre-show discussions, master classes, and more!
